Happy New Year
Woohoo! If you didn't know, I'm afraid you missed your chance to party this weekend :-P
Speaking of which, I did not take my camera to tucson, so I have no bounty for you :-/
And now, storytime. So, back atStanford, when we weren't old enough to have cars, we took shuttles to theairport. One particularly memorable driver is the star of this story. When he drove, he would carry a flashlight with him, and when he approached a red light, he would strobe the flashlight at the intersection like amad man. At the time, I thought this man a fool. He thought flashing his light in the intersection would simulate an emergency vehicle's presence and change the light to green....not much has changed. I still think him the fool. However, he was quite as crazy as I thought.
There is some truth to his beliefs....

This device emits an infrared beam to a sensor in the intersection. Fire truck and amulances use this kind of device. However, their effect isn't exactly clear...some people believe that using one of these devices would turn all lights in the intersection red. Others feel this kind of device is unnecessary and a simple strobe light would suffice.
Was the man crazy? Probably. Would you like to be just ascrazy?
Be my guest, just don't cross my path :-P
