MLB Playoffs = Peace + Stress

MLB Playoffs = Peace + Stress

I am not a huge sports nut, at least not anymore. Back in high school, I could have told you just about everything about the NBA. After heading to college, I found other things to do.

Somehow, when it's time for the MLB playoffs, I get sucked back in. I guess it's just something about the slow motion of it all that I find both peaceful and stressful; it's really hard to describe.

One hand, you can appreciate the immense concentration and strategizing going on during the game. This level of concentration, is something I can only attain when I have cleared my surroundings of distraction. So watching the games reminds me of these times.

On the other hand is the consequences are so great and the margin of error is nil. What's worse, is that when you do make a mistake, you have minutes, upon minutes to think over what you did wrong and what you could have done correctly. These thoughts themselves will take you away from the task at hand and represent a massive distraction. However, you can't ignore them either because, you have to consider the consequences of the mistake when making your next decision.

It's like this big circle that only works in your favor if you have the focus to just think like a machine...my goal in life :-P

In any case, I am definitely simultaneously enjoying both the serenity and agony; each in their own special way.
