If I were a writer... (part 1)

Today, I would like to begin a two part series that will outline a novel that I would write if I had the skills and time.

Today's series is a take off of Brave New World, The Age of Spiritual Machines, the Ender Series and maybe even a little of Dune.

The story is set in a world/time where humans have indeed mastered artificial intelligence and the vast majority of the sentient life lives life at the speed of light on account of having their brains made out of computers. Thus, most of the world is not interested in reproducing or food or really any such materialistic phenomena.

Meanwhile, a group of hippies refused to be "upgraded" and have been living a simple life for a while now.

The plot will center around two characters, a light-speeder who sees these hippies who need help transitioning into the world of artificial brains, and a youthful hippie who is interested in making the transition, but sees that there are missing elements in the light-speeders' lives.

The two meet, become friends, and bring about a revolution that makes everybody happy.

Of course, we'll throw in an evil light-speeder who's trying to take over the world (just for good measure) and voila, a nice little story that explores two perspectives and brings about change while defeating a manifestation of evil.
