Swastika

Swastika

As I hope you all know, the Swastika is an age old Hindu symbol of fortune. For most, unfortunately and somewhat understandably, it is Nazi Germany that leaps to mind upon an encounter with the symbol.

The Hindu Symbol for Good Luck

In any case, last night on the Daily Show they had a small piece how there are efforts being made to ban the symbol in public. This seems rather odd. The most evil man in recent history had not only the power to kill millions upon millions, but also to influence global views of freedom of expression and religion. Hmm....

In any case, the show's "Moment of Zen" was a comment from a gentleman asking to reducate the world on the original meaning of the Swastika. I could dig that. I would be happy to think I'm helping to do that just that :-P
