Eighteen of Them

Eighteen of Them

It's that time of year again: Major League Baseball playoffs. Last year, I ranted about how baseball allows one to vicariously experience moments of intense concentration and stunning execution.

This year has brought that to a whole new level. Yesterday, I spent six hours engrossed in the longest postseason baseball game ever. Although I started out tired, I was even more spent by the end; and I was just watching!

I atttribute my attraction to the playoffs of 1992. It was that year that I followed Toronto Blue Jays as they defeated the Atlanta Braves in an exciting World Series. I guess it was then that I had developed my anti-Braves sentiments. That team makes for a great opponent; they're good, but they don't win :-P

So on Sunday, as I watched all 18 innings of the game, I was relieved that it culminated with the elimination of the Braves.

In any case, this week, I'm hoping to balance my time a little by checking out something new.
