Gettin Round the Getty

A view of the Getty Museum from the garden

Pictures and Panoramics

On a recent adventure, we stopped by the Getty Museum and were pleasantly astonished.

Among the sculptures, ancient art and handmade books, we found an exhibit that took our breaths away. The ongoing exhibit titled "Pictures for the Press" features some of the most unique photographs in existence.

For example:

  • A picture of the mushroom cloud over Nagasaki
  • Pictures of German citizens being chased out of Paris after Alliance troops had retaken the city.
  • Soldiers fighting to gain ground at Normandy
  • A picture minutes after the assassination of Senator Kennedy

The moments captured on this film are ones that I never thought I would see; yet there they were, right in front of me.

Beyond the exhibit we took time to marvel at the Italian travertine stone that once shared a quarry with the Coloseum, to enjoy the bliteringly perfect weather, and to lie in the welcoming arms of the well-kept set of grass blades.

Oh! and Happy Halloween!
