For the impatient: Pictures
Local Contemporary Art and Fashion
Last night, a few of us visited the fall edition of SMoCA Nights at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and we definitely enjoyed ourselves :-)
Pictures from Fall Edition of SMoCA Nights
Starting with the toy exhibit in the lobby of the Scottsdale Center for Performing arts, we made our way past some painters doing their thing outside the museum. Inside, were treated to a few exhibits of paintings, photos, and moving sculptures. The photo exhibit was the collection of images shot by border crossing immigrants and minutemen on cameras given to them by the exhibit's creators; definitely and interesting project.
The finale was a fashion show by local designers. I am no fashion expert either, but it was cool see not every model was sporting the emaciated look. I'm not sure how famous the Mod Squad is, but they were there spining tracks to energize the ambiance.
Lastly, it was my first playing around with my SLR and its new lens -- some mixed results but overall I really like using the shallow depth of field with the wide open aperture :-)
