21 Dog Years

AmazonThe tale of an early employee of Amazon. I read it hoping for some insight into the company, but all I got was insight into the mind of somebody taking a job just for the opportunity to be around when a company might go big. The author was an employee in customer service. He never dreamed of being an "office drone" but there he was. Despite being intelligent, he got caught up in the dot-com craze and took a dead-end job in the hopes of striking it rich. He ended up a mal-content, feeling like he gave his soul for nothing. I liked it in that he was honest about his feelings, but the style was intentionally over dramatic and it didn't help that the author narrated. I suppose if you want to build or create in your job, it was clearly a mistake for him, but I'm glad those experiences allowed him to create something after all.
