A Short History of Nearly Everything

AmazonOh wow...at first I thought it was just like Hawking's history books, but this one is much, much more. After you're done reading it, you will feel as though you have earned a degree in "History of Science". The book covers such topics as: cosmology, geology, paleontology, physics, chemistry, biology, and anthropology. It not only refreshes the material from the science classes you've taken, but also explains many discoveries's origins. The author consulted with a phenomenal number of authorities on each of the many subjects and presents the material in a striking fashion that is never unimportant or boring. It's a long book, but it's damned good :-) Two overarching themes...most scientific discoveries were actually discovered by someone other than the person who got credit, and about 20-30 years before when is commonly known.
