Digital Fortress

By: Dan Brown - Available at
AmazonHmm... after reading the fiction of Douglas Adams and Neal Stephenson, Dan Brown just doesn't have that 'pop' that makes fiction fun. I guess he wrote this one before Angels/Demons and DaVinci Code, and you can tell. It follows the standard pattern of guy with secret dies, professor runs around foreign country looking for something. It's funny how authors try to write present-day sci-fi. To anybody who knows science or technology knows that most of this book is very, very silly, entertaining maybe, but stil everything from viruses to cryptology is distorted in this book. If this distortion is from a lack of research, then it really casts doubt on anything that seemed to have been presented as fact in his later books. But I'll give him props for brining to light the efforts of the EFF - I just hope this book doesn't brainwash people against it.
