Eldest

Again, after a long stretch of non-fiction, I went with a long comfortable story. It's a story of kings and elves, dwarves and dragons, and about every other heroic archetype you can think of. It unfortunately comes across as less than compelling. All the bits you would think were important in storytelling are there, but it just doesn't fly. Will I read the third one? If I do, it will be only because I've read the first two :-P In an case, props to the young author ... I heard they're making it into a movie.
