Getting Things Done

I read this on the recommendation of the internet, 'getting things done', seems to be all the rage now-a-days. It puts forward the following principles:

Put all your tasks/projects into a system outside of your head

Determine the next physical action on all of them

Review this system regularly

Sounds like common sense? It more or less is. But it is good at providing a good system to do all of this. The only thing troubling me is the 'outside of your head' bit. I've always felt it'd be nice to be able to know what you're doing at all times. The argument for freeing up that mindspace for actual work is probably valid too.
