Rework

AmazonThis book seems to be championed by the interenet as an awesome book about building a product and working in general. He talks about focusing on the core of your product/business and not get caught up in peripheral issues like details, staffing, office space, etc. What was interesting is that Joel Sapolsky
decided to refute one of his main philosophies. Rework, and even Google, says you should go for simple and good. Joel figures that simple is too easy and that more features means more sales. So what to do? I think Joel and the Rework folks are saying the same thing but at different stages. Rework says to focus on your core functionality at the beginning. However, once you get going, focus on helping the customer/user reach their goals. If that means details, features, etc. so be it. Spend time making decisions for the customer and don't interrupt them with your new feature while they're doing their work.
