Sedona 2009
For the impatient: Pictures
Wow, quick trips can be so much fun :-) We mozied on up to Sedona Saturday morning and kinda goofed off with our cameras by Oak Creek -- which was in the bed-n-breakfast's backyard. We found our first time staying in a b-n-b to be really nice. There were only eight rooms at this place and which made it feel small, calm and quiet.

Later, we tried to catch sunset but found ourselves stuck at Raw Food Cafe waiting for some small, but delicious, sandwiches. Dessert was 'kombucha' and gogi berry chocolate.(Aside: I just learned how kombucha is made, I can't exactly recommend it) Still feeling hungry, we ate dinner #2 at D'lish -- a deli that serves very fresh and very filling filling. Sunset brought some rain, which really crushed my hopes of star gazing, but miraculously the clouds opened up a 2-hour window in which our evening sky tour let us see some spectacular things.
First, we saw the International Space Station -- that thing really books across the sky! Then there was the north star, followed by a few constellations. I think this might be the first time constellation viewing is going to stick with me. We ended with viewing Saturn. When I focussed the viewfinder, the white blob slowly resolved to something with rings! Instantly I tried to imagine what it must have been like to be the first person to resolve such an image and I got the eeby-geebies. The tour itself was in a parking lot and led by an astronomer who had built his own Newtonian telescope. The tour felt very DIY and really added charm and character -- I highly recommend it.
Come morning time, we spent more time at the creek and had a marvelous breakfast. It was the first Sedona trip without any red rock adventuring so it was pretty different and Spring time is definitely beautiful.
