The Wisdom of Crowds

AmazonI must say that I am impressed. He presents the collective results of many sociological experiments that show that a crowd of diverse people making independent judgements each using their own private information is remarkably good at solving problems. He also goes on to show that they are best at solving cognition, coordination and cooperation problems as well as in what circumstatnces collective intelligence falters. Using examples from simple contests, to the stock market to traffic, he presents a pretty convincing case. Perhaps now I'll have to read the Tipping Point to hear a counter argument.
