Yosemite 2009
For the impatient: Pictures
Wow! Our first time into Yosemite was an amazing time and filled with adventure after adventure. While we can talk about how we went to the top of Half-Dome along the Mist Trail, or wound our way up to Glacier Point to see the moons of Jupiter, or down to Mariposa Grove to find nature in action, or sort of maybe found Inspiration Point, or how we tried to get to Tenaya Lake and Tuolumne Meadows but ended up along the Merced River in El Portal asking a new 'friend' about the visitor center that wasn't there, it's impossible to impart the hilarity of the conversations along the way, or the awesomeness of our 'cabin', or how hard it was to find grocers in Fres-no-supermarkets, California. We weren't stopped by fire nor rock slides and we were treated to perfect weather. Even the pictures will never convey the ferocity of the squirrels, the soreness of our butts or the elation of locating our car after almost 15 hours of measured trekking. Tips for folks doing the cables: make sure your gloves have a rubberized grip, don't leave anything at the base that is of interest to the squirrels, and make sure you do something crazy on the diving board. And please, please, don't start debating your dinner options immediately after coming off of the sub-dome, you 'll probably find yourself off the trail!
